HOW OUR SCHOOL BENEFITS & OUTREACH PARTNERS
Our Gala & Auction serves two important purposes: raising funds to benefit our children and giving back to our community. The funds raised will be used to enhance our school with scholarships, enrichment programs, and teacher bonuses, as well as to support a charity that is close to our hearts, Proyecto Pastoral at Dolores Mission.
Proyecto Pastoral provides services and resources to the underserved community of Boyle Heights including two early childhood centers, a youth development program and a cradle to college and careers program. Sunshine has partnered with Proyecto for many years to provide resources and support and cultivate mutually beneficial activities for the children of our school and their centers.
This year’s Gala was inspired by the famous song from Casablanca, “As Time Goes By.” Founded during World War II, around the same time Casablanca graced the silver screen, our school emerged as a place of warmth, community, and hope amid uncertain times. Brentwood Sunshine Preschool remains Los Angeles’ oldest preschool, a beacon of connection and early education across generations. As time goes by, our light continues to shine brightly into the future.
